This release of Wonderware System Platform includes a new integrated HMI and visualization module, along with new features and enhancements for the component products of Wonderware System Platform. Server-based Licensing Wonderware System Platform 2017 utilizes a new server-based licensing subsystem that provides centralized license management. This replaces the file-based licensing system that was used in prior releases. Licenses must be activated before use. If you are upgrading an existing installation to Wonderware System Platform 2017, you must first install and configure a license server node, and activate the licenses to ensure continuous plant operation. The license server is typically installed on the Galaxy Repository node, but you can use a dedicated license server.

The following only applies to VSCL 6.0.4 and earlier because from VSCL 6.0.5, the DECOMPRESS switch is automatically applied. So the first time after each DAT update it will automatically replace the local copy of the compressed DAT with the decompressed equivalent for future use. It is therefore no longer necessary to use the DECOMPRESS switch from VSCL 6.0.5 and later. For VSCL 6.0.4 and earlier, after every DAT update McAfee recommends you use the DECOMPRESS switch once to pre-prepare the DAT files. This will improve subsequent scan initialization times.
